Online Therapy

Online Therapy offered by The Mindful Mommy

Online therapy is a form of telehealth or telemedicine, which refers to medical or psychological services that are provided using technology, such as through phone or a video platform. At The Mindful Mommy, LLC, we  offer individual therapy and group therapy via telehealth. We provide online therapy to residents of New York, South Carolina, and Florida.

Online therapy allows you to meet with a therapist in the comfort of your own home. It cuts down on travel time and is more convenient for some people.

Many people ask us about whether telehealth is secure. We use a HIPAA-approved telehealth platform for your sessions, so you can rest assured that your sessions are secure. We will give you instructions on how to access the session prior to your first appointment.

Because online therapy requires the use of technology, there is the possibility that factors outside of our control can interfere. To help prevent this, we suggest take the following steps:

  • Be sure to have a private space to talk where you will not be interrupted
  • Do not conduct telehealth while driving or doing other tasks
  • Ensure that your internet connection is strong and your device is fully charged
  • If possible consider headphones or a sound machine to prevent outside sounds from distracting you

We have found that it is most helpful if you approach a telehealth session like you would meeting with a therapist in-person. If possible, do not answer calls, texts, and emails, or do other tasks. Try to stay focused on the session. We understand that sometimes things may come up and you might get distracted. Please let us know if this happens. And of course babies are always welcome during sessions! Even though it can make it harder for you to focus, it’s more important that you get the help that you need. We will do our best to help you get the most out of your session if your child(ren) is present!

There are some cases where telehealth may not be recommended. If you are suicidal or experiencing a crisis, you may require in-person services or hospitalization. We will talk to you more about your specific condition and whether or not telehealth is right for you.

If for any reason telehealth is not right for you or if you are not comfortable with it, we will provide you with a referral to an in-person provider.
