Individual Therapy offered by The Mindful Mommy
At The Mindful Mommy, we are a group of mental health professionals who specialize in working with perinatal mental health concerns and parenting issues. We offer online individual therapy sessions via a secure video platform.
Our areas of practice include:
- Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, including prenatal and postpartum depression and anxiety
- Grief and loss, including miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss
- Traumatic childbirth
- Tokophobia (fear of childbirth)
- Parenting stress
How it Works
Individual therapy means that you will meet with a therapist one-on-one to work on your specific concerns. Your therapist will help you identify your goals and develop a treatment plan to work toward them.
The first individual therapy session is typically 60 minutes long. This session is an intake where your therapist will ask questions about your past and present concerns to get a sense of what you are experiencing and how to help you. You will also discuss your goals, treatment plan, and have an opportunity to ask questions.
Our individual therapy sessions are 45 to 50 minutes long and are generally held weekly. We find that meeting weekly is most effective in helping you address your concerns. As time goes on, you and your therapist may decide that you are ready to be seen less frequently or to prepare for termination. Termination is the process of ending therapy when you have reached your treatment goals.
We understand that childcare can often be a barrier to new parents getting help. If childcare poses an issue, you are welcome to bring your baby to our telehealth session. We are very flexible and patient and will work with you to get the most out of your session even if your baby is present.
